A chemical peel is a treatment used to improve skin texture and tone. A medically formulated solution is applied to the skin to lower the pH, which loosens the connections between dead skin cells. This process causes superficial layers of dead skin to peels off, revealing a smoother and more radiant complexion and the skin begins to rejuvenate itself like younger skin. Each peel is customised with specific, active blends to address your specific skin concerns.
At Body Basix Cardiff Clinic, we offer lights to medium depth peels. AlumierMD peels are known for their excellent results and safety profile.
You may experience a tingling to moderate heat sensation during the peel, but it is generally well-tolerated. This sensation typically only lasts for 5 minutes or less as the peel reaches its peak and then reduces back down to a minimal sensation.
There may be some mild redness for a few hours post peel, but most clients can resume normal activities immediately.
The number of treatments can vary depending on the individual's skin condition and concern. Generally, a series of 4-6 peels, spaced a few weeks apart is recommended for optimal results.
-Do not use any retinoids, exfoliants or harsh skincare products for 7 days prior to treatment.
-Avoid UV for 2 weeks post treatment. (Apply SPF 50+ with unavoidable exposure)
-Avoid makeup for 24 hours post treatment.
-Follow post procedure skincare routine for 3 days post treatment.
