The Dermapen Microneedling device has ultra-fine, medical grade needles to create micro-injuries in the skin's surface. These micro-injuries trigger the body's natural healing response to stimulate the production of new collagen and elastin (which are essential for the skin's firmness and elasticity). As the skin heals, it regenerates with improved texture, reduced scarring and diminished fine lines.
Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure. We do not apply any numbing cream to the skin before the treatment and therefore you may feel some discomfort throughout the treatment. The sensation is often described as a mild tolerable sunburn sensation rather than pain.
WHY CAN'T WE APPLY NUMBING CREAM?
Numbing cream can reduce the inflammation caused from the microneedling and therefore will result in less effective results. The results-smoother, firmer and more radiant skin- are absolutely worth it.
You may experience some redness after the treatment, but this typically subsides within 24 hours. Your skin may feel slightly dry and sensitive for about a week as it goes through the natural healing response, but that is all (So worth it right?).
The number of sessions can vary depending on your skin goals. Our skin expert will make a customised plan for your unique skin needs at your consultation. (To achieve optimal results, 3 sessions are usually needed, spaced 4 weeks apart. We would then recommend a maintenance session every 12 weeks).
-Avoid UV for 2 weeks prior to treatment. (Apply SPF 50+ with unavoidable exposure)
-Do not use any retinoids, exfoliants or harsh skincare products for 7 days prior to treatment.

-Avoid makeup for 24 hours post treatment.
-Avoid Alcohol for 24 hours post treatment.
-Follow post procedure skincare routine for 3 days post treatment.
